This Sumac Salad Dressing recipe is made with basic ingredients that’ you’ll likely have on hand, except for maybe the sumac spice. It’s made with extra-virgin olive oil, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, sumac seasoning and some dried oregano and dill leaves.

Lemon Sumac Dressing Recipe

  • Fresh Lemon Juice. Fresh is best for this recipe. Lemons and limes add a bright fresh flavor.  Don’t use the bottled stuff.
  • Olive oil . We use extra-virgin olive oil rather than lite olive oil, but you could use a mix of both or just light olive oil if you like.
  • Water.  I like to add 2-3 tablespoons of water to the dressing to tame the tartness of the lemon in this sumac vinaigrette.
  • Garlic. Depending on how much garlic you like, we add 2-3 cloves. If you don’t blend the dressing in a blender, then finely grate or mince it and whisk together with the other ingredients.
  • Seasoning. We season this dressing with sumac, dried oregano and dill, and salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
