Banana Milk Recipe
This healthy banana almond milk recipe uses just three ingredients – frozen banana and milk (vegan) with some water.
- Banana. We use frozen bananas for this recipe, but you can use fresh instead. You might want to add an ice cube or two to the blender if you don’t use frozen bananas so your dink will be nice and chilled.
- Milk. We use unsweetened plain almond milk to make this recipe, but you can use whatever unsweetened milk you prefer.
- Water. This banana almond milk has a thin consistency like milk, not thick like a smoothie, so we add a little water with the almond milk for the perfect consistency.

What Is The Best Way To Choose Bananas?
Bananas are readily available in grocery stores all year long. Look for plump bananas that are evenly colored with few brown spots. The greener the fruit, the longer it will take for them to ripen. Avoid bananas with gashes in the peel and sunken dark spots on the skin which may indicate bruising on the fruit inside. The size of the banana doesn’t affect the quality or flavor. Taste and texture are related to the stage of ripeness. Green bananas are hard and have a bitter taste, while fully ripe yellow bananas are soft, creamy and sweet. Bananas are at their peak flavor and at their sweetest when they are yellow with a few brown spots on the peel.
How Do You Ripen Bananas?
Bananas that are in need of ripening should be left at room temperature away from direct sunlight. To speed up the process of ripening, place the bananas in a plastic bag or a paper bag for a day or two. You can also add an apple in the bag with the bananas. Once fully ripened, keep bananas at room temperature where they will stay good for a 1-2 days, then you can refrigerate them to halt the ripening process.
How Do You Store Bananas So They Last Longer?
Once the bananas are fully ripened they can be kept in the refrigerator to halt further ripening where they will last up to 2 weeks. The skins will turn black while kept in the refrigerator, but this doesn’t affect the flesh on the inside, which is perfectly edible. Bananas can also be frozen. To freeze them, just peel and slice, then lay the slices out on a cookie sheet and freeze for 20 minutes. Transfer the frozen pieces to a freezer bag and store in the freezer where they’ll last up to 6 months.
How Do You Keep Bananas From Turning Brown?
When slicing bananas that you won’t be serving right away, dip the slices in orange, lemon or lime juice to slow down the browning process.
