This Copycat Starbucks Dragonfruit Refresher is a great immunity boosting drink that’s made with a blend of green tea, mango, dragon fruit and a wee bit of honey. It has a deliciously refreshing taste that your whole family will love.

Mango Dragonfruit Refresher Recipe

This Copycat Starbucks Mango Dragonfruit Refresher has a light and refreshing flavor. 

  • Mango – You can use either fresh or frozen mango for this recipe. If you prefer to use fresh, then just peel it and cut the flesh into cubes to toss in your blender.
  • Dragon fruit – You can also use either fresh or frozen for this recipe. If you love dragon fruit (pitaya), be sure to check out my Pitaya Bowl recipe.
  • Green Tea – We use green tea for this recipe that’s lightly steeped (see simple instructions for brewing tea below). You can also swap out the tea and use white grape juice instead.
  • Honey – Add just enough honey (or another sweetener of your choice ) to taste. We really only want to add enough to lightly sweeten the bitterness of the tea added to this drink.

How to Make Mango Dragonfruit Refresher

This Mango Dragonfruit Refresher recipe is a great immunity boosting drink to make.  It’s so delicious and it’s super quick and easy to make!  Green tea is blended with dragonfruit (fresh or frozen), mango (fresh or frozen) and a little honey to sweeten things up a bit. Then the mixture is strained through a fine mesh leaving you with a refreshing vibrant pink flavored tea.  

  1. Steep tea:  Steep green tea using either loose leaves or tea bags.
  2. Blend: Blend steeped green tea, mango, dragonfruit and honey in blender.
  3. Strain:  Strain the mango, dragon fruit and green tea through a sieve into a pitcher discarding whats left of the fruit pulp. 
  4. Sweeten: Pour honey and juice of one lemon or lime  into the pitcher and stir until honey is disolved.
  5. Serve:  Fill 4 glasses with ice and pour dragon fruit refresher over ice.
  6. Garnish: Pretty things up by adding fresh mint, lemon or lime slices and pieces of dragonfruit to your glass.

How to Steep Green Tea

  • You’ll use about 1 teaspoon loose tea leaves per 1 cup water or 1 tea bag per 1 cup water.
  • Fill tea kettle or pot with cold water and heat to a simmer just before boiling then remove from heat.
  • Pour hot water over tea leaves (rather than adding tea leaves to a cup with hot water) and steep.  
  • If using an infuser, be sure the tea infuser is fully submerged beneath water while steeping.
  • Remove tea bag or infuser and enjoy tea.

You can either 

  • Put loose tea leaves right in the cup or tea pot; or
  • Add the tea leaves to a ball style infuser to dunk in your cup or pot; or
  • Place your tea leaves in a metal strainer and rest it on the lip of your tea cup while pouring the hot water over the tea leaves; or  
  • Add tea bag to tea cup and pour hot water over tea bag and steep (don’t squeeze tea bag while steeping because it will cause a bitter taste). 

How Long to Steep Green Tea

  • How long to steep green tea depends really on how strong you like your green tea. 
  • Loose leaf tea:  steep for 2 – 4 minutes
  • Tea bag: steep for 1 – 3 minutes
  • Don’t steep for too long or the tea can become bitter.

What is Dragon Fruit?

Dragon fruit is a beautiful exotic fruit known for its vibrant red skin and sweet tasting flesh. The texture of the  inside of dragon fruit might remind you of a kiwi with its soft and edible seeds. Dragon fruit is a cousin of the cactus pear.  This fruit has a few names (and spellings) that it goes by – pitaya, pitahaya, pithaya and dragon fruit. The commercial growers in Israel refer to the fruit as pitaya or pitahaya and the commercial growers in Vietnam call the fruit “thang loy” which apparently translates to “dragon fruit”.

Mango Dragonfruit Refresher

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Mango (fresh or frozen), peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup Dragonfruit (fresh or frozen), peeled and chopped
  • 4 Green tea bags
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • Juice of one lime

Instructions

  1. Pour the water into a saucepan and bring almost to a boil. Turn heat off.
  1. Add the green tea bags to pot and cover with lid. Let tea bags steep for 3 minutes.
  2. Remove tea bags.
  3. Pour the tea into a blender. Add the mango and dragonfruit and blend for a few seconds.
  4. Pour the tea through a strainer into a large pitcher. Use a silicone spatula to push the fruit pulp against the strainer to get out all the juice.
  5. Stir in the honey until dissolved.
  6. Stir in the lime juice.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator before serving.
  8. Serve in tall glass over ice.
  9. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves.
