Tuna Salad Sandwich
This Tuna Salad Sandwich is made with canned tuna, celery, onions and kalamata olives all tossed in a light mayonnaise dressing.
Tuna salad is one of those quick and easy sandwich recipes to make, and it can be served on bread, toast, lettuce leaves, as a wrap or simply with a handful of crackers.
Everyone has their favorite mix of Tuna Salad Sandwich ingredients. I personally love a good tuna salad loaded with lots of celery, some onion and I prefer kalamata olives over pickles or relish.
TUNA SALAD INGREDIENTS
This easy tuna salad recipe adds a little kalamata olives and parmesan cheese giving it a little Mediterranean flavor.
- Canned tuna
- Celery
- Parmesan cheese
- Kalamata olives
- Red onion
- Green onion
- Flat leaf parsley
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Tuna salad dressing
TUNA SALAD DRESSING
- Mayonnaise
- Lemon juice
- Dried dill
- Garlic powder
- sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
HOW TO MAKE TUNA SALAD
This easy tuna salad recipe comes together in about 10 minutes start-to-finish.
- Drain tuna
- Place tuna in medium sized bowl and lightly break apart any large chunks of tuna using a fork.
- Add the celery, onions, kalamata olives, parmesan cheese and parsley and toss.
- Fold in the dressing so all of the ingredients are lightly and evenly coated.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve chilled to make a sandwich or a wrap or scoop a mound on top of lettuce leaves.
HOW TO MAKE TUNA SALAD SANDWICH
I probably make this tuna salad sandwich recipe once a week, either for lunch or a light dinner.
- Put one lettuce leaf and 2 tomato slices on a slice of bread or toast.
- Place ½ cup of salad on top of the tomato slices.
- Put second piece of bread or toast on top of the tomato slices and cut the sandwich in half.
TUNA SALAD VARIATIONS
- Add 1/4-1/2 teaspoon curry to the salad dressing
- Instead of mayonnaise, mix together 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 2 tablespoons water and 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil.
- Add diced red pepper
- Replace kalamata olives with chopped pickles (sweet or dill) or relish (sweet or dill)
- Toss in capers
- Omit parmesan cheese
- Use this avocado mayonnaise instead of regular mayonnaise
HOW TO SERVE TUNA SALAD
- Sandwich: Serve on slices of bread or toast with lettuce and tomatoes.
- Wrap: Stuff tortillas or lettuce leaves with tuna.
- Stuffed Avocado: Scoop tuna salad on top of avocado halves.
- Crackers: Serve the tuna salad almost like you would a dip with cut vegetables and crackers.

- 2 cans water-packed tuna, drained
- 1 large celery stalk, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, finely grated

- 2 tablespoons red onion
- 2 green onions
- 2 tablespoons fresh flat leaf parsley
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
For the Tuna Salad Dressing
- 3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1/2-1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon dried dill
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
