Ground Turkey Burgers Recipe

These Greek turkey burgers are amazing served on a bun with all the fixins, but they’re also delish served with tzaziki and a tossed green salad for a lighter low-carb and low-cal dinner. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Lean ground turkey
  • Dried dill and dried oregano
  • Fresh mint
  • Sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil
  • Garlic
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

How to Make Turkey Patties

These ground turkey patties come together in about 20 minutes start-to-finish

  1. Mix meat and seasoning. Add the ground turkey meat to a large mixing bowl. Gently fold in the olive oil, seasoning, garlic and the sun-dried tomatoes. Don’t over mix or your patties won’t be as tender.
  2. Form patties.  Shape meat into 4 meat patties.
  3. Refrigerate turkey patties.  Refrigerate or freeze for 10 minutes so the turkey patties stay firm and hold their shape
  4. Heat and oil grill.  Brush extra virgin olive oil on a heated grill.
  5. Cook ground turkey patties.  Grill the meat patties over medium-high heat on an outdoor grill or a stove-top grill.
  6. Serve.  Serve turkey burgers with tzaziki.

How Long to Cook Turkey Patties

Depending on the thickness of your patties and the heat of your grill, cook the turkey patties over medium-high heat for about 3-5 minutes on each side, or until completely cooked through (no longer pink inside).

Easy Tzatziki Sauce

Tzaziki sauce is a classic Greek yogurt sauce made with cucumber, Greek yogurt, garlic, dill and olive oil.  It goes perfect with these Greek turkey burgers!! You could also serve these turkey patties with my Lemon Dill Sauce. It’s similar to Tzatziki only easier to make!

  • Greek yogurt
  • English cucumber
  • Lemon juice
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Garlic
  • Fresh dill (or dried)

How to Make Tzatziki

This tzaziki comes together in about 5 minutes, but for a fuller flavor, it really benefits from sitting in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.

  1. Grate cucumber and lightly squeeze grated cucumber in your hands to remove excess liquid.  Transfer squeezed cucumber to a bowl. 
  2. Stir in yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and herbs.  Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. 
  3. Let mixture set for 5-10 minutes.  Adjust seasoning to your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1-1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 2 sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, finely minced
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For Tzaziki

  • ¾ cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ English cucumber, peeled, seeded and finely minced
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 small clove garlic, finely minced
  • 2-3 teaspoons fresh dill (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)

Instructions

For the Turkey Patties

  1. Add the meat to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Gently fold in the olive oil, seasoning, garlic and the sun-dried tomatoes. Don’t over mix or your patties won’t be as tender. Form into 4 meat patties.

For the Tzaziki Sauce

  1. Grate cucumber and lightly squeeze the liquid from the cucumber with your hands. Transfer squeezed cucumber to a bowl. 
  2. Stir in yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and herbs.  Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. 
  3. Let mixture set for 5-10 minutes (best if it can sit in the refrigerator for an hour before serving). 
  4. Adjust seasoning to your taste.
