Asian Salad Dressing
We love everything about this Asian Salad Dressing recipe! Made with fresh lime juice, shallot, red bell pepper, fresh ginger, cilantro, honey, apple cider vinegar, toasted sesame seed oil, and olive oil. It’s a great dressing to toss with big beautiful leafy green salads and it also doubles as a marinade for chicken and fish.
This Asian Salad Dressing has a really great combination of flavors that turns just about any salad you’d want to toss it with into something special!
Asian Ginger Salad Dressing can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for a day or two until you’re ready to serve it. This is a dressing that we love, so I will sometimes double the batch so I can have it to toss with lunch salads all week long.
Asian Salad Dressing Recipe Ingredients
- Lime Juice. Fresh squeezed lime juice adds a bright and perky flavor to this dressing.
- Honey. Honey adds just a hint of sweetness to the dressing.
- Shallot. Shallot adds a nice flavor to the mix.
- Red Bell Pepper. Bell pepper also adds a nice flavor to this dressing.
- Fresh Ginger. Ginger brings a delicious flavor to this dressing. We only add a little bit of fresh ginger so it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the other ingredients.
- Cilantro. We add a little cilantro to this dressing which also adds a great flavor to this amazing dressing.
- Dijon Mustard. We add a little Dijon mustard to emulsify the dressing a bit.
- Toasted Sesame Oil. You don’t need much toasted sesame oil to add an incredible flavor to this dressing.
- Light Olive Oil. We use a light olive oil rather than extra virgin for this salad, because it has a much lighter flavor that compliments the other flavors going on in this dressing.
- Seasoning. We season this salad dressing with a little salt and freshly ground black pepper.

To Make Asian Ginger Salad Dressing
This Asian ginger salad dressing takes just about 5 minutes to pull together.
- Whisk. Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and whisk together using a wire whisk. You can also add the ingredients to a mason jar, seal the lid well and shall vigorously to blend the ingredients. Or add the ingredients to a wide mouth mason jar and blend using an immersion blender (stick blender).
- Storage. Store the dressing in a mason jar or an airtight container in the refrigerator. If properly stored, it should last up to 5 days.
Can I Make This Vinaigrette Ahead Of Time?
Yes! The vinaigrette can be made 1-2 days in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You’ll need to let the vinaigrette set for a minute after removing it from the refrigerator to allow the olive oil to liquify (it can thicken a bit when chilled). Shake well or give it a good shake (or stir) before serving.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1-1/2 teaspoons toasted sesame sed oil
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons red bell pepper, finely minced
- 1-1/2 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
- 1 tablespoon shallot, finely minced
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 1/2 cup light olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Add the ingredients to a wide mouth mason jar and blend using an immersion blender (stick blender). Or add all of the ingredients to a bowl and whisk together using a wire whisk. You can also add the ingredients to a mason jar, seal the lid well and shall vigorously to blend the ingredients. We prefer to blend the ingredients for a smoother consistency.
- Store the dressing in a mason jar or an airtight container in the refrigerator. If properly stored, it should last up to 5 days.

Variations
- Add more ginger if you want a more robust ginger flavor.
- Use 3-4 teaspoons of regular sesame oil if you don't have toasted sesame oil.
