Citrus Ginger Juice

  • Water. We add a little water to dilute the concentration of this citrus blend.
  • Orange Juice. This is the main juice we use for this juice blend.
  • Lemon Juice. Adds flavor a lot of nutritional perks to the mix.
  • Lime Juice. Also adds flavor and nutritional perks to the mix.
  • Fresh Ginger. We use fresh ginger root for this recipe.
  • Turmeric Powder. We add turmeric powder, but you could use fresh turmeric root if you prefer.
  • Black Pepper. Turmeric (curcumin) isn’t absorbed well without consuming black pepper with it.  Black pepper contains piperine, a substance that enhances the absorption of turmeric (curcumin).
  • Honey. Honey adds a little sweetness to the lemon and lime juice. I like to use pure clover honey.

  1. Juice Citrus. Juice the oranges, lemons and limes and pour in a blender.
  2. Peel Ginger. Peel and chop about 2 tablespoons fresh ginger.
  3. Add Turmeric Powder. Add the turmeric powder and black pepper to the blender.

Best Oranges For Juicing

Valencia oranges are generally known as the best oranges to use for juicing. You can use all Valencia oranges to make juice with, or use a mix of Valencia oranges and a sweeter orange like Mandarins or Clementines (also called Cuties or Halos).

Do I Have To Add Pepper?

You can choose to omit the pepper if you like (you can’t really taste it in this juice though), just note that when combined with turmeric, black pepper (or cayenne pepper) may enhance the absorption of curcumin (key compound in turmeric) by up to 2000%

Is It Necessary To Peel The Ginger First?

It’s not necessary to peel the ginger first, but the skin on the ginger may turn your juice a little brown. If you choose not to peel the ginger first, just be sure to rinse the fresh ginger root well before slicing it.

How To Store Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
