  • Easy To Make. This is a quick and easy flavored tea to make. The flavor is far superior to any bottled mango tea you’d buy at the store.

Mango Tea Recipe

  • Green Tea Bags.  We use green tea bags for this recipe, but you can use another tea that you like best. You can also use loose leaf tea if you like.
  • Mango. We use fresh mango for this tea. Frozen mango will work, but fresh is juicier and more flavorful.
  • Water.  Water is to steep the tea bags in.
  • Honey. We use honey for this recipe rather than pure cane sugar. The health benefits of honey can be lost when honey is heated, so we don’t heat the honey to make this recipe, instead we blend or stir the honey with water, which dissolves the honey just fine.

How To Make Mango Tea

This iced peach tea is refreshing, delicious and so quick and easy to make!

  1. Puree Mangoes. Add the peeled mango to a blender with water and puree until smooth. Using a fine mesh colander or strainer, strain the mango puree to remove any stringy pieces.
  2. Steep Tea. Bring the water to a simmer in a large pot. Remove from heat and add the tea bags and steep for 1-3 minutes. Transfer to a pitcher and chill in the refrigerator up to an hour (longer even better) before blending with the mango.
  3. Add Mango Puree.  Pour the strained mango puree water into the pitcher with the tea. Stir in the honey and adjust sweetness to taste.
  4. Serve.  Serve over ice and garnish with sprigs of fresh mint or orange slices.
  5. Refrigerate. Store tea in a pitcher or an airtight container (mason jar or Weck jar) in the refrigerator. If properly stored, it should last 3-4 days.

How to Steep Tea

You’ll typically use about 1 tea bag per 1 cup water.

  • Fill tea kettle or pot with cold water and heat to a simmer just before boiling then remove from heat.
  • Pour hot water over tea leaves (rather than adding tea leaves to a cup with hot water) and steep.
  • If using an infuser, be sure the tea infuser is fully submerged beneath water while steeping.
  • Remove tea bag or infuser.

Steeping Loose Leaf Tea

You’ll use about 1 teaspoon loose tea leaves per 1 cup water.

  • Put loose tea leaves right in the cup or tea pot.
  • Add the tea leaves to a ball style infuser to dunk in your cup or pot.
  • Place your tea leaves in a metal strainer and rest it on the lip of your tea cup while pouring the hot water over the tea leaves.
  • Add tea bag to tea cup and pour hot water over tea bag and steep (don’t squeeze tea bag while steeping because it will cause a bitter taste.

How Long Do You Steep Green Tea?

How long to steep green tea depends really on how strong you like your tea. The longer you steep it, the more bitter tasting it can become.

  • Loose Leaf Tea. Steep for 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Tea Bag.  Steep for 1 to 3 minutes.

Choosing A Ripe Mango

A perfectly ripe mango will have a strong flowery fragrance, and will slightly yield when you gently squeeze it. The skin should have tones of yellow-orange or red which will increase as the fruit ripens. Avoid mangoes that have a loose or shriveled skin, or black spots on the skin which may indicate overripeness and damage to the flesh inside.

How Do You Cut A Mango?

  1. Hold the fruit standing on one of its ends.
  2. Slice down one side of the pit vertically, then repeat on the other side. There will be flesh left around the pit.
  3. Using a paring knife, score the flesh of each half into cubes. You don’t want to slice all the way through the skin.
  4. Using a spoon, scoop along the inside of each half as close to the skin as you can to cut out all of the cubes. Alternately, you can turn each half inside out so the cubes pop outward, then cut away the cubes.
  5. Cut away the band of fruit around the pit and peel away the skin. Cut the flesh into piece
