- Olive Oil. We drizzle a little olive oil over the garlic, shallots and tomatoes so they roast nicely in the oven.
- Garlic. We add garlic for more flavor.
- Shallot. A little minced shallot for flavor. You can use finely diced red onion instead if you like.
- Cherry Tomatoes. These add a lot of flavor and texture to the sauce!
- Seasoning. We use Italian seasoning, thyme, rosemary and red pepper flakes to add another layer of flavor.
- Pasta. Use any pasta shape you like. We’ve used cavatappi pasta for this recipe.
- Pasta Water. You’ll need to reserve some of the pasta water to thin the sauce.
- Parmesan Cheese. We garnish the pasta with a little parmesan cheese for extra goodness.
- Fresh Basil. To add to the sauce and to be used as a garnish.

How To Make Boursin Cheese Pasta
- Prep Ingredients. Scatter the minced garlic, shallot, tomatoes and seasoning in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Drizzle the olive oil over all of it and using your hands rub the oil over everything so it is all evenly coated. Scoot aside some of the tomatoes to make room for the Boursin cheese. Place the cheese in the middle of the baking dish and arrange the tomatoes so they are all around the cheese.
- Bake Cheese and Tomatoes. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the onions turn golden and the tomatoes are soft.
- Cook Pasta. While the Boursin cheese is baking in the oven, cook the pasta according the directions on the package. When the pasta is done, reserve 3/4 cup of water and drain the noodles and set them aside.
- Add Pasta to Sauce. When the Boursin cheese has melted completely, remove the baking dish from the oven. Using a wooded spoon or a fork, gently mash the tomatoes and stir into the melted Boursin cheese. Stir in the finely chopped fresh basil. Add 1-1/2 cups of the cooked pasta and 1/2 cup pasta water to the baking dish. Stir to combine the water with the cheese sauce and pasta. Add another 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup cooked pasta. You’ll need to eyeball this. We don’t want to add too much pasta so that it absorbs all of the sauce and we’re left with dried boring pasta. Only add enough pasta so you will have some creamy sauce left on your plate that you may need a piece of warm crusty bread to sop it up with.
- Garnish. Sprinkle the finished Boursin Cheese pasta bake with grated parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.

Tips For Making The Best Boursin Pasta
- Don’t overcook the pasta. You’ll be adding it to a warm sauce, so the pasta will soften still a bit more in the sauce.
- Reserve 3/4 cup pasta water. You’ll only need 1/2 cup, but you can reserve the extra 1/4 cup to reheat the pasta with.
- The cheese is already salty, so taste the sauce before you decide you’re going to add more salt to the dish.
- We garnish this dish with about 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese. This step is optional. No need to buy the parmesan cheese if you’re only buying it for this recipe. The Boursin Pasta is still amazing without the added parmesan.
Storing Leftovers
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If properly stored, it should last up to 3 days.
- To reheat leftovers, add them to a saucepan and reheat slowly over low-heat. You might need to add the 1/4 cup of pasta water that you reserved or a little milk or cream to make it creamy again.
