Ingredients

  • Fresh chamomile flower (use organic chamomile herbal tea if possible)
  • Boiling water
  • Slices of lemon or orange (Optional)
  • Honey (Optional)

If you don’t have fresh chamomile on hand, then you can add dried chamomile instead.  Steep 1 tablespoon dried chamomile per 1-1/2 cups water. And of course for convenience you can also use chamomile tea bags.

How to Make Chamomile Tea

This Chamomile tea recipe uses fresh flowers infused in hot water.  

  1. Boil water:  Place 1-1/2 cups water in a saucepan or tea kettle and bring to a boil.
  2. Muddle:  Place 1 tablespoon fresh (or dried) chamomile flowers in cup and lightly mash to release the oils.
  3. Steep tea:  Pour hot water over chamomile flower and let steep 5 minutes before removing flowers.
  4. Add citrus:  Add a slice of lemon, lime or orange to cup as chamomile steeps for added fresh flavor. Optional
  5. Sweeten:  Stir in 1 teaspoon (or more) of honey. Optional
