Why You Will Love This Salad
- Quick and Easy. It’s super quick and easy to make with lettuce, Parmesan cheese and lemon vinaigrette.
- Simple Side Salad. This is a great no-fuss side salad to serve with just about any main dish you’d want to serve it with (chicken, fish, pasta, etc).
Lettuce Salad Recipe Ingredients
- Romaine Lettuce. We use Romaine lettuce for this salad, but you could use another type of lettuce like butter leaf, red leaf, spring mix, etc. We like Romaine because it has hearty leaves with a lot of crunch to them.
- Parmesan Cheese. We use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for this salad, but you could use a Parmesan Reggiano cheese if you like.
- Lemon Citrus Vinaigrette. The lemon citrus vinaigrette we toss this salad with is fresh and perky and super simple to make.

How To Make Lettuce Salad
- Make Dressing. Add the ingredients to a wide mouth mason jar and use an immersion blender (stick blender) to blend the ingredients, or add everything to a blender and blend for a few seconds until smooth. You can also add everything to a bowl and whisk them together.
- Assemble Salad. Add the chopped lettuce to a bowl. Drizzle the dressing lightly over the salad and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top and toss again.
For The Lemon Citrus Vinaigrette
To make the vinaigrette, add all of the ingredients to a wide mouth mason jar and blend using an immersion blender (stick blender). You can also use a stand blender or food processor to blend the ingredients.
- Lemon Juice. Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for this dressing – not the bottled stuff.
- Orange Zest. Rinse the orange well and pat it dry before zesting it.
- Garlic. We add just 1 clove of garlic to the dressing which adds a lot of flavor.
- Extra-Virgin Olive Oil. Use a good extra-virgin olive oil for this dressing.
- Water. We like to add 2-3 tablespoons of water to mellow the tartness of the lemon.
Storing Leftovers
Store leftover salad in an airtight container. If the salad has been tossed with dressing, leftovers will only last a day or two. If you store the lettuce and dressing separately in the refrigerator, then leftovers should up to 5 days.
