What is Turmeric
Turmeric (also called turmeric root) is a spice related to the ginger family.The main active component of turmeric is curcumin which gives the spice its yellow coloring. Curcurmin is a natural antioxidant that also has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal and immune-boosting properties. You can add fresh turmeric root grated or finely minced to recipes or you can sprinkle in dried ground turmeric.
