Mango and Pineapple BatidosYum
Kyle and I were talking the other day about a guy he works with who owns a popular restaurant in Ann Arbor, and how Kyle had the opportunity to sample some of food. He piqued my interest so I Googled their site and took a peak at the menu. The photos of their food looked incredible, the reviews were rave… and the menu made me want to hop on a plane and order one of everything. On the drink menu they listed an assortment of fruit batidos. Batidos are Latin American fruit milkshakes. One particular drink on the menu caught my eye – the mango and pineapple batidos. Two of my favorite fruits!
The menu also listed some of the ingredients for the mango and pineapple batidos, so here I’ve sort of gone with their grocery list and tweaked it just a touch. They add ice cream to their batidos, but I went with frozen vanilla yogurt. Instead of plain-ol ice – I added coconut water ice cubes for that extra hint of flavor. A common ingredient added to most batidos is condensed milk for the added sweetness. I won’t knock it till I try it – but I really think that the fruit and yogurt is plenty sweet enough …so I passed on the condensed milk altogether.
As short and sweet as this drink is to make, the flavor will leave you with a long-lasting grin on your face.
I enjoyed my Mango and Pineapple Batidos so much so that I polished off a whole pitcher by myself. No…not all at once….
I paced myself!
This is definitely a new favorite!!
